Almost as far south as you can drive into the wilderness of southern Tasmania, this area is hiking, boating, fishing and photography heaven. Virtually right across from the shores of the stunningly beautiful Recherche Bay, this is as rare as they come. The spacious double brick home has been fully renovated to a high standard and offers complete modern day comfort. The open plan living, dining and kitchen all enjoy unparalleled panoramic views of the bay and surrounding vista. All on the same level, there is also 3 large bedrooms and the main bathroom with separate toilet. Through the back door leads to a massive covered parking area ideal for all weather activities and around to a covered entertaining which is also accessed from the kitchen. Underneath the house is a full length rumpus room and garage with internal access into the middle of the house. Even here, there are large windows that frame the magnificent views of the bay. Further under-house storage and the laundry with shower is located here too.
Fully self-sufficient, this property is amazingly well set-up. Power is generated from the vast array of solar panels that cover the carport roof and stored in the battery bank in the power station that also houses the diesel back-up generator, used to top up the batteries should that be required. The hot water is produced from the very efficient solar tube set-up and even the land-line phone has its own solar system, a rarity in these parts. At the rear of the house, there is a large fully fenced enclosure ideal for the fruit trees and vegetable garden, produce your own food and keep the plethora of wildlife out. Despite the full self-sufficient ability, the supermarket, doctors, hardware store and shops of Dover are only 30 minutes back up the road.
Exploring the area is endless. Moor your boat directly out the front ready to go when you are. Across the bay is nature at its best appropriately named the French Gardens. Around the point is a simply stunning white beach and just beyond that is the entrance into the spectacular Southport Lagoon. Just a bit further down the road, you arrive at the most southern point you can drive to in Australia at Cockle Creek and is also the start of the Great South Cape walk. Right around the bottom there are some of the most untouched and pristine natural wonders of the world, including the spectacular Port Davie. Originally discovered by the French explorers, they carried out research on the natural flora, fauna and geology, document their findings.
This is a truly magical part of the world with a fantastic remote feel to it. A place where you can taste the fresh air and really feel like you are only small in this world. This place will recharge and revitalise. Ideal as a family getaway holiday house, but also perfectly well set-up to enjoy this way of life everyday.
